Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to join a progressive mental health service provider. This fully remote position enables you to support individuals across South Africa through remote channels, using empathetic, client-centered care.

You will provide emotional support, practical guidance, and crisis risk assessments, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and maintaining confidential records within data protection policies.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related mental health field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in providing mental health support or counseling.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and strong active listening abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct emotional support and counseling to clients via phone, video calls, and secure messaging platforms.
• Assist clients in developing coping strategies and self-management skills for their mental health conditions.
• Help clients navigate mental health services and connect them with appropriate resources and professionals.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans for clients in crisis.
• Maintain accurate, confidential client records in line with policies and data protection regulations.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated care.
• Participate in regular virtual team meetings, case reviews, and professional development sessions.
• Adhere to ethical guidelines and best practices in remote mental health support.
• Empower clients to build resilience and work towards personal recovery goals.
