Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Security Architect to steer the cybersecurity strategy for a fully remote division. You will design, implement, and govern secure systems across the organization, driving security decisions and mentoring other security professionals.

You will collaborate with engineering, operations, and executives to embed security in all processes. You will lead threat modeling, risk assessments, and evaluation of security technologies, ensuring compliance with NIST,

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive information security experience, with at least 3 years in security architecture.
• Experience designing and implementing secure, large-scale enterprise solutions.
• Strong knowledge of security principles, networking, cryptography and cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Expertise across security domains: network, endpoint, application security, IAM.
• Experience with security frameworks: NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2.
• Understanding of GDPR and POPIA regulatory requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fully remote, autonomous work environment.
• CISSP-ISSAP, SABSA, or TOGAF are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and govern the cybersecurity strategy and architecture.
• Design secure, enterprise-wide IT infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Define security standards, policies, and best practices.
• Lead threat modeling and risk assessments for new systems.
• Evaluate and select appropriate security technologies.
• Mentor and guide security engineers and analysts.
• Ensure security requirements are met across the SDLC.
• Oversee implementation of security controls and monitoring.
• Stay current with threats, vulnerabilities, and regulations.
• Document security architectures and designs.
