Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Lead Renewable Energy Project Developer to join a globally distributed team from South Africa. This fully remote role focuses on identifying, evaluating, and securing new solar, wind, and storage developments.

You will steer the development lifecycle from feasibility to PPAs and final investment decisions, manage budgets and financial models, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with engineering, construction, and finance teams.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years in renewable energy project development.
• Strong financial modeling and deal structuring experience.
• Deep knowledge of SA regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess sites for solar, wind, and storage projects.
• Develop budgets, financial models, and investment cases.
• Lead land lease, grid connection and PPAs negotiations.
• Secure permits, licenses, and regulatory approvals.
• Mentor junior development professionals.
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, and finance teams.
• Monitor market trends and policy changes.
• Manage project development pipeline and milestones.
