Placements24 is seeking a Lead Project Manager for renewable energy projects in South Africa, with remote work and a focus on Upington. You will oversee the full lifecycle from feasibility to closure, lead distributed teams, and manage contractors and stakeholders in a complex regulatory environment.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Engineering and 10+ years in project management, including 5+ years in renewables, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Civil) or related field.
• 10+ years in project management, with ≥5 years in renewables.
• Proven track record leading large solar/wind projects.
• Ability to lead remote teams across geographies.
• Knowledge of PMI, PRINCE2 and Agile frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution and delivery of renewable energy projects from concept to completion.
• Develop and manage project plans: scope, budget, timeline, resources, risk.
• Mentor and manage remote project teams for performance and collaboration.
• Oversee contractors and vendors; ensure contract compliance and quality.
• Monitor progress; identify issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, environmental standards and safety.
• Engage stakeholders including communities, regulators and investors.
• Present regular status reports and financial updates to leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement in methodologies and execution.
• Oversee close-out, documentation and lessons learned.
