Placements24 is seeking a Lead Process Safety Engineer for a fully remote role in the oil & gas sector. You will spearhead development and implementation of robust process safety management systems, identifying and mitigating process risks to protect people, assets, and the environment.

Your leadership will influence safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance across operations near George, Western Cape.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
10+ years of process safety experience in oil & gas.
Strong knowledge of PSM standards (OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, NFPA, API).
Experience leading PHAs (HAZOP, What-If, FMEA, LOPA).

Responsibilities

Lead development and implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
Conduct PHAs (HAZOP/LOPA/What-If) to identify and assess hazards.
Develop safety studies, risk assessments and consequence modeling.
Audit safety-critical equipment and systems for integrity and effectiveness.
Deliver safety training for engineers and operations staff.
Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
Maintain records of safety studies and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance to integrate safety into design and operations.
Stay updated on evolving process safety standards and technologies.
Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.
