Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Process Safety Engineer for a fully remote role, ideally based near Mossel Bay or anywhere in South Africa. You will lead HAZOP/LOPA studies, develop PSM programs, and oversee risk assessments across chemical operations to prevent incidents.

You should have a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and at least 7 years in process safety within the chemical or petrochemical sectors, with strong regulatory knowledge and remote collaboration experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years in process safety engineering within chemical/petrochemical.
• Experience leading HAZOP/LOPA/PHAs; CSP certification advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) including HAZOP/LOPA/What-If.
• Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct safety reviews for Management of Change (MOC).
• Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to reduce safety risks.
• Ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations and best practices.
• Investigate incidents and near misses; recommend corrective actions.
• Deliver process safety training to engineering and operations teams.
• Maintain process safety documentation and reports.
