Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Forensic Accountant to head complex investigations into financial fraud, white-collar crime, and related irregularities. This remote role requires outstanding analytical skills, independent work ethic, and the ability to manage high-stakes projects across borders.

You will lead case teams, develop investigative strategies, conduct detailed financial analyses, present findings, and provide expert testimony when required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Master's degree and/or professional designation (e.g., CA(SA), CPA, CFE) essential.
• 10+ years of experience in forensic accounting, fraud investigations, and litigation support.
• Proven leadership of complex investigations and cross-functional teams.
• In-depth knowledge of fraud schemes, white-collar crime, and relevant legal frameworks.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience providing expert witness testimony desirable.
• Proficiency in forensic accounting software and data analytics tools.
• Ability to work remotely, maintain confidentiality, and manage high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex forensic accounting investigations, including fraud, asset tracing, and financial misconduct cases.
• Develop comprehensive investigative plans, identify key evidence, and oversee data analysis.
• Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including reconstructing financial records and identifying patterns of financial impropriety.
• Manage and mentor junior forensic accountants and investigation teams, providing guidance and oversight.
• Prepare detailed forensic accounting reports, executive summaries, and presentations for clients and legal proceedings.
• Provide expert witness testimony in litigation and arbitration proceedings.
• Liaise effectively with clients, legal counsel, law enforcement agencies, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure adherence to professional standards, ethical guidelines, and legal requirements throughout investigations.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends in financial crime, forensic accounting techniques, and relevant legislation.
• Contribute to the development of new service offerings and methodologies within the forensic accounting practice.
