Placements24 is seeking an experienced Forensic Accountant to join a fully remote team. The role focuses on financial fraud investigations, data analysis, and expert reporting across diverse clients in South Africa.

The ideal candidate will have a CA(SA)/CPA/CFE or equivalent, 7+ years in forensic accounting, and a proven track record in handling complex investigations. Remote work offers flexibility while maintaining high professional standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA), CPA, CFE, or equivalent is essential.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in forensic accounting or a related investigative field.
• Proven track record in conducting financial investigations and fraud detection.
• Expertise in data analysis, accounting reconstruction, and litigation support.
• Strong understanding of legal procedures and evidence handling.
• Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings persuasively.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage sensitive investigations remotely.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth investigations into financial fraud, embezzlement, and other financial crimes.
• Analyze complex financial data, accounting records, and electronic evidence.
• Reconstruct financial records and trace illicit financial flows.
• Quantify economic damages and prepare expert reports.
• Provide litigation support, including deposition and trial testimony.
• Develop and implement forensic accounting procedures and methodologies.
• Collaborate with legal counsel, law enforcement, and other stakeholders.
• Identify control weaknesses and recommend improvements to prevent future fraud.
• Stay current with forensic accounting techniques, legal precedents, and fraud trends.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards throughout investigations.
