Placements24 seeks an experienced Lead Civil Engineer to drive infrastructure projects from a fully remote base in South Africa. You will oversee the full lifecycle from conception and design through to construction oversight, leading diverse teams virtually to deliver high-impact developments nationwide.

The role requires a Master's degree in Civil Engineering, 10+ years of project management experience, and strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder skills for remote collaboration.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in civil engineering project management with infrastructure development.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is desirable.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams on large-scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of water, transport, and structural disciplines.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in project management software and design tools.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Reliable home office setup with high-speed internet is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and execution of major civil infrastructure projects (water, sanitation, transport).
• Develop comprehensive project plans, scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Oversee design teams, ensuring standards and regulatory compliance.
• Manage stakeholder relationships including clients and government bodies.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and staff.
• Mitigate risks and resolve complex technical/logistical issues.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and impact assessments.
• Ensure effective virtual communication among stakeholders.
• Monitor progress and financial performance and report to senior management.
• Champion best practices and innovation in project delivery.
