Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Lead Civil Engineer to drive major infrastructure projects from a fully remote operations base across South Africa.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure regulatory compliance. A Master's in Civil Engineering and Pr Eng registration (desirable) are preferred, with a strong track record in delivering large-scale infra work in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 10+ years of civil engineering project management experience.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA highly desirable.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams on large infra projects.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with project management software and design tools.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and execution of significant civil infrastructure projects.
• Develop project plans, scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Oversee design teams and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Manage stakeholder relationships including clients and government bodies.
• Mentor project engineers and technical staff.
• Mitigate risks and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and impact assessments.
• Ensure effective virtual collaboration among stakeholders.
• Monitor progress, performance, and financials; report to senior management.
• Champion best practices and innovation in project delivery.
