Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Remote Information Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain advanced security systems from the Soweto region. You will protect data and systems, work with cloud and on-premises environments, and collaborate with global teams on complex cybersecurity challenges.

This role offers a fully remote arrangement, flexible hours, and the opportunity to contribute to high-impact security projects using cutting-edge technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Cybersecurity or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of professional information security engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in network security, hardening, and secure coding.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
• Experience with cloud security environments (AWS, Azure) and related services.
• Cryptographic principles knowledge; relevant certifications like CISSP/Security+/GIAC desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage security infrastructure (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, WAF).
• Develop automation for security processes and incident response using scripting.
• Perform security assessments, vulnerability testing, and penetration testing.
• Implement and manage IAM solutions and enforce access controls.
• Respond to security incidents and coordinate containment/remediation.
• Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security.
