About the Role

Our client, a globally recognized software development firm with a strong presence in George, Western Cape , is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Remote Information Security Manager. This pivotal role will lead the charge in developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive information security programs across the entire organization. You will be instrumental in protecting our client’s sensitive data, intellectual property, and digital infrastructure from evolving cyber threats. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership qualities, a deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, and a proven ability to manage security operations in a distributed, remote-first environment. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a robust information security strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Oversee and manage all aspects of information security operations, including threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management.
• Establish and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures across the organization.
• Lead and mentor a geographically dispersed security team, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing culture.
• Manage security risk assessments, penetration testing, and compliance initiatives (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2).
• Oversee the security of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SaaS applications.
• Develop and deliver effective security awareness training programs for all employees.
• Manage relationships with third‑party security vendors and service providers.
• Stay informed about emerging cybersecurity threats and trends, adapting strategies as necessary.
• Report on security posture and key metrics to executive leadership.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, CRISC) are mandatory.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in information security, with at least 5 years in a management or leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing enterprise‑wide security programs.
• Expertise in security architecture, risk management, incident response, and compliance.
• Proven experience managing security in a remote‑first or highly distributed workforce.
• Strong understanding of cloud security principles and technologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to think strategically and translate complex technical issues into business impact.
• Experience in the software development or technology sector is highly preferred.
