Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Industrial Engineer specialized in facilities and layout design to optimize the physical infrastructure and operational flow across our client’s sites. This role supports remote contributions with on-site collaboration to translate designs into practical, real-world layouts.

Ideal candidates have a strong CAD background (AutoCAD, Revit/SolidWorks), at least 5 years in facility layout projects, and a proven ability to manage projects remotely.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years in industrial engineering with focus on facility layout design and space optimization.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) for creating detailed facility plans.
• Strong understanding of material flow, logistics, ergonomics, and safety in facility design.
• Experience with simulation software for layout analysis is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and spatial reasoning skills.
• Proven ability to manage projects remotely and communicate with diverse teams.
• Must be eligible to work in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing facility layouts and workflows to identify improvement areas.
• Develop conceptual and detailed designs for new or modified layouts (production areas, warehouses, offices).
• Create floor plans and material flow diagrams using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Conduct space utilization studies to optimize workspace efficiency.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to meet requirements.
• Perform simulation and modeling of proposed layouts to assess performance.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines for facility design projects.
• Oversee implementation of new layouts and ensure compliance with specs.
• Stay updated on best practices in industrial facility design, ergonomics, and material handling.
• Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders.
