Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Remote Health and Safety Officer to support mining operations across multiple sites, with Randburg-based oversight. The role drives MHSA compliance and safety culture through remote guidance.

The candidate will hold an OH&S qualification with 5+ years in mining safety, and strong skills in audits, training, and remote communication to implement safety measures.

Qualifications

• Requires a National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Experience in mining H&S is mandatory or highly preferred.
• Registration with a professional body is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and monitor H&S management systems for mining operations.
• Conduct remote risk assessments across mine sites.
• Investigate incidents and near misses with detailed reporting.
• Develop and deliver safety training for employees and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with SA mining health and safety legislation (MHSA).
• Advise site management and safety committees on H&S matters.
