Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Remote Geotechnical Engineer to provide critical expertise for mining operations, focusing on the Free State province. You will assess geotechnical risks, develop models, and advise on slope stability and underground excavations while working remotely.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of geotechnical engineering experience within the mining industry.
• Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and geological structures.
• Proficiency with geotechnical analysis and modeling software (FLAC, Rocscience Suite).
• Experience in remote data analysis and providing technical recommendations via digital platforms.

Responsibilities

• Analyze geological and geomechanical data to assess slope stability and underground excavation design parameters.
• Develop geotechnical models and conduct numerical simulations to predict ground behavior.
• Provide remote technical guidance on foundation design, ground support systems, and excavation methods.
• Review and interpret site investigation data, including borehole logs and laboratory test results.
• Develop and implement risk management strategies for geotechnical hazards.
• Collaborate with mine design teams and operations personnel to ensure safe and efficient mine development.
