Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to provide expert remote support and analysis for mining and infrastructure projects from a hybrid base in South Africa. You will evaluate ground conditions, slope stability, and underground excavation stability to advise on safe, efficient project execution.

The role requires a Master's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering and at least 8 years of relevant experience, with proficiency in PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, and SEEP/W.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of geotechnical experience in mining or heavy civil construction.
• Proficiency with PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, SEEP/W.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills.
• Hybrid role requiring remote analysis with on-site collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed geotechnical analyses including slope stability, seepage, and settlement analyses.
• Interpret borehole logs, CPT data, and lab test results.
• Develop geotechnical design recommendations for mines and tailings structures.
• Conduct risk assessments for geological hazards and mitigation strategies.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports and specifications.
• Provide remote guidance and coordinate site visits as needed.
