Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer with a geotechnical specialty to work remotely from Bloemfontein. You will provide geotechnical expertise for infrastructure projects, including design, analysis, and reports, collaborating with project teams to integrate findings into designs.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in soil and rock mechanics, is detail-oriented, and proficient with PLAXIS, GeoStudio, and SLOPE/W. Flexible hours and remote collaboration are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; a Master's degree with a geotechnical specialization is preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software packages (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, SLOPE/W).
• Solid understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology principles.
• Experience with site investigation techniques and laboratory testing interpretation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive geotechnical site investigations and interpret subsurface conditions.
• Perform detailed analyses for foundation design (shallow and deep foundations), slope stability, and earth retaining structures.
• Prepare clear and concise geotechnical investigation reports, including recommendations for design and construction.
• Collaborate with remote project managers and structural engineers to integrate geotechnical findings into overall project designs.
• Review contractor submittals related to earthworks and foundation construction.
• Stay abreast of advancements in geotechnical engineering practices and technologies.
