Job summary

Placements24 partners with a Durban-based geotechnical consultancy to recruit a Geotechnical Engineer. You will assess ground conditions across KwaZulu-Natal, advise on foundations, earthworks and underground structures, and contribute to diverse projects while embracing a remote-first work environment.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree with a geotechnical specialization, 6+ years of relevant experience, Pr Eng registration with ECSA, and proficiency with PLAXIS and GeoStudio.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering with geotechnical specialization.
• 6+ years of geotechnical investigations and design experience.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA.
• Proficiency in PLAXIS and GeoStudio.
• Strong report writing and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations, including soil sampling, testing, and in-situ measurements.
• Perform geotechnical analysis for foundation design, slope stability, and earth retention systems.
• Prepare geotechnical investigation reports, design recommendations, and construction method statements.
• Provide technical support to project managers, clients, and construction teams during construction.
• Ensure designs meet South African geotechnical standards and environmental regulations.
• Manage project deliverables with timely completion and budget adherence.
