Placements24 has partnered with a prestigious national firm in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, to recruit a Forensic Accounting Investigator. The role focuses on uncovering fraud and financial misconduct, reconstructing complex transactions, and preparing comprehensive reports for management, legal counsel, and regulators.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, discretion, and at least five years of experience in forensic accounting or related fields.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA), CIMA, CFSA or CFE is advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, auditing, or forensic investigations.
• Demonstrated experience in fraud detection, investigation, and financial analysis.
• Strong understanding of financial crime, regulatory frameworks, and legal procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive forensic accounting investigations into suspected fraud, embezzlement, and financial misconduct.
• Analyze financial data, transaction records, and other relevant documents to identify patterns and anomalies.
• Reconstruct incomplete or obscured financial records to determine the extent of financial irregularities.
• Interview witnesses, suspects, and relevant parties to gather information and corroborating evidence.
• Prepare detailed and well-supported forensic accounting reports for management, legal counsel, and regulatory bodies.
• Assist in quantifying financial losses and damages resulting from fraudulent activities.
• Provide expert witness testimony in civil and criminal court proceedings when required.
• Collaborate with legal teams, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders during investigations.
• Develop and recommend internal control improvements to prevent future occurrences of fraud.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and ethical standards throughout all investigations.
