Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the entire maintenance program from a remote location. The role focuses on developing strategies, managing service providers, and driving continuous improvement for a large fleet.

You will analyze fleet data, manage budgets, ensure safety compliance, and lead remote staff to optimize uptime and reduce downtime. A strong background in maintenance operations and telematics is essential.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field; extensive experience may substitute for a degree.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in fleet management, with a strong focus on maintenance operations.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing successful fleet maintenance strategies and programs.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
• Excellent understanding of various vehicle types (e.g., trucks, vans, specialized vehicles) and their maintenance requirements.
• Demonstrated experience in budget management and cost control.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, essential for remote collaboration.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and telematics systems.
• Must be highly self-motivated, organized, and capable of working autonomously in a remote setting.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for critical meetings or site visits if absolutely necessary, though the role is primarily remote.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive fleet maintenance policies and procedures to ensure vehicle reliability and longevity.
• Oversee all aspects of fleet maintenance, including preventative maintenance scheduling, repair management, and breakdown response, utilizing telematics and service reports.
• Manage relationships with third-party service providers, negotiating contracts and monitoring service quality.
• Analyze fleet maintenance data (costs, repair times, part usage, vehicle performance) to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost savings.
• Develop and manage the annual fleet maintenance budget, tracking expenses and ensuring adherence to financial targets.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, and legal requirements related to vehicle operation and maintenance.
• Implement and manage a robust system for tracking vehicle maintenance history, service records, and warranty claims.
• Lead and mentor remote maintenance coordinators or support staff if applicable.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fleet uptime, reduce operating costs, and improve overall fleet efficiency.
• Prepare regular performance reports for senior management, summarizing key metrics and strategic recommendations.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and best practices in fleet management and maintenance.
