Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the lifecycle maintenance of a national vehicle fleet. The role focuses on preventative programs, repairs, and telematics-driven health monitoring from a fully remote location.

You will manage maintenance partners and internal teams, ensuring uptime, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency while supporting regions near Nelspruit and across the country.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience in fleet maintenance management or related technical field.
• Experience managing maintenance for a large and diverse fleet (trucks, vans).
• Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, diagnostics, and maintenance procedures.
• Proficiency in using fleet maintenance software and diagnostic tools.
• Excellent project management, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage remotely.
• Bachelor-level degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, Business Management, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for the entire fleet.
• Oversee and coordinate all vehicle repairs, ensuring timely and cost-effective service.
• Utilize fleet management software and telematics data to monitor vehicle health, identify potential issues, and track maintenance history.
• Manage relationships with third-party service providers, negotiating contracts and ensuring quality of work.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for vehicle safety and emissions standards.
• Analyze maintenance costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
• Develop and maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, parts inventory, and warranty claims.
• Provide technical guidance and support to drivers and onsite maintenance staff (where applicable).
• Stay current with industry best practices and new technologies in fleet maintenance.
