Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Electrical Systems Design Lead to architect, design, and validate electrical systems for renewable energy solutions. This senior role requires strong leadership, deep expertise in power electronics, and the ability to guide a globally distributed engineering team from anywhere in South Africa.

You will define architecture, oversee schematics and layouts, and drive testing/validation while ensuring compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Electronics or Renewable Energy Systems.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical system design, with at least 4 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Experience with power conversion topologies, energy storage systems, and grid interconnection standards.
• Proficiency in electrical design software and simulation tools; ability to guide remote teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electrical systems for renewable energy applications, including power conversion, energy storage, and grid interface.
• Define electrical system architecture, specifications, and design guidelines.
• Oversee the creation of detailed electrical schematics, layouts, and component selection.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to a team of electrical engineers across locations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integrated system design.
• Develop and execute comprehensive testing and validation plans for electrical systems.
• Conduct feasibility studies, performance analysis, and reliability assessments.
• Drive innovation by researching and integrating new electrical technologies and components.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
• Manage design reviews and ensure timely delivery of high-quality documentation.
