Placements24 is seeking a Director of Digital Transformation to lead a digitally enabled future for a national retail chain. This remote-first role is anchored to our Pretoria operations hub, with no requirement for physical presence.

You will define and execute a comprehensive digital strategy, lead cross-functional teams, manage external partners, and report to executive leadership, shaping innovation, e-commerce, data analytics, and digital marketing initiatives.

Qualifications

• Min 10–12 years in digital strategy or leadership within a large org.
• Proven track record in digital transformation including e-commerce and data analytics.
• Strong understanding of current and emerging digital technologies, platforms, and trends.
• Experience delivering remote-first large-scale transformation programs.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills.
• Retail industry experience is advantageous.
• Bachelor's degree in IT, Business Admin, Marketing or related field; Master's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a holistic digital transformation strategy aligned with objectives.
• Lead the integration of digital technologies across customer experience, operations, marketing, and sales.
• Identify and evaluate emerging digital trends and technologies relevant to retail.
• Drive adoption of digital tools and platforms with seamless implementation and user adoption.
• Oversee digital marketing initiatives, e-commerce platforms, and online engagement strategies.
• Establish and monitor KPIs for digital initiatives.
• Foster a culture of innovation and digital literacy across the organization.
• Collaborate with IT, marketing, operations and other departments to ensure alignment and execution.
• Manage external digital agencies and technology partners.
• Provide thought leadership and strategic direction to executive leadership.
