Placements24 is recruiting a Remote Data Scientist for upstream operations analytics. The role focuses on developing and deploying advanced ML models to boost efficiency, optimize production, and improve safety across assets.

You will work with geologists, reservoir engineers, and operations teams from a fully remote setting. The candidate should have a strong ML background, 5+ years in data science, and expertise in Python/R, SQL, cloud platforms, and big data tools to drive data-driven

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field relevant to data science.
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist with ML focus.
• Python or R with TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Pandas/NumPy.
• SQL and large-scale database experience (SQL Server, Oracle, NoSQL).
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data tech (Spark, Hadoop).
• Strong statistical modeling, experimental design, and ML algorithms.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Outstanding communication and remote collaboration ability.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote team.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and deploy ML models for predictive maintenance and optimization of upstream assets.
• Analyze large datasets from geological surveys, seismic data, production volumes and well performance.
• Design and run A/B tests to evaluate new algorithms and models.
• Collaborate remotely with geologists, reservoir engineers, and operations managers to identify data needs.
• Build data pipelines and ensure data quality, integrity, and availability.
• Communicate complex findings via visualizations and reports to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Stay current with advances in data science and AI for the oil and gas industry.
• Maintain documentation for models, algorithms, and data processes.
• Contribute to data strategy and best practices within the analytics team.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards.
