Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a remote Energy Data Scientist to join our client’s data analytics team. You will tackle large energy datasets, build ML models, and deliver insights to optimize grid performance and energy efficiency.

This fully remote role requires a strong background in data science, with 5+ years of experience, a masters or PhD, and proficiency in Python or R, SQL, and ML libraries. Collaboration with engineers and business leaders is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, CS, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of Data Scientist experience applying analytics to real-world energy problems.
• Strong Python or R programming skills.
• Experience with ML libraries (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and techniques.
• Proficiency in SQL for data extraction.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
• Solid understanding of statistical modeling and experimental design.
• Familiarity with big data (Spark, Hadoop) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication; ability to work remotely.
• Domain knowledge in energy sector is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and preprocess large energy datasets.
• Develop and implement statistical models and ML algorithms to forecast demand and optimize usage.
• Analyze energy market data for trends and opportunities.
• Design experiments to test hypotheses and evaluate energy-saving strategies.
• Develop data visualizations and dashboards for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with domain experts, engineers, and leaders to understand data needs.
• Stay updated on advances in data science and energy analytics.
• Ensure data integrity, quality, and security.
• Contribute to data infrastructure and analytics tools.
• Document methodologies and code for reproducibility.
