Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Remote Legal Counsel with a strong focus on compliance to join its globally distributed legal team. This fully remote role requires you to provide expert regulatory advice and develop compliance programs across jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate is an admitted SA attorney with at least 6 years of experience in regulatory matters, data privacy (POPIA/GDPR), and ability to work autonomously in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 years of legal practice with a focus on compliance and regulatory matters.
• In-depth knowledge of South African and international compliance laws and best practices.
• Experience developing and implementing compliance programs.
• Excellent remote collaboration and autonomous work abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the company's compliance program and policies.
• Conduct compliance training across departments and locations.
• Investigate potential compliance violations and recommend corrective actions.
• Stay updated on regulatory landscapes and advise policy changes.
• Advise on data privacy regulations (POPIA, GDPR) and ensure adherence.
