Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Legal Officer focused on Compliance and Contracts for a fully remote role. You will develop and implement compliance policies, perform risk assessments, and review/draft commercial agreements while ensuring regulatory adherence.

You will collaborate with business units, manage a diverse workload independently, and liaise with external counsel to safeguard the company's interests in a virtual environment.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney or qualified Legal Officer with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in corporate compliance, contract law, and risk management is required.
• Strong understanding of South African legal and regulatory landscape.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and drafting skills.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and manage priorities in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs and policies across the organization.
• Conduct legal research and provide advice on regulatory requirements and changes.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts and agreements.
• Identify and assess legal risks associated with business operations and contractual relationships.
• Maintain organized records of contracts and compliance documentation.
• Liaise with external legal counsel and regulatory bodies when necessary.
