Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Chemical Process Scale-Up Specialist to bridge lab discoveries to commercial production in a fully remote setting. You will develop scale-up strategies from laboratory to pilot and production, design pilot operations, optimize mass and energy balances, and coordinate technology transfer with global teams using advanced digital tools.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in chemical process development and scale-up, strong kinetics and thermodynamics knowledge, pilot plant

Qualifications

Master's or PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in chemical process development and scale-up.
Proven success in scaling up diverse chemical processes, including batch and continuous operations.
Strong knowledge of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat/mass transfer.
Proficiency in process simulation and modeling software (e.g., Aspen Plus, CHEMCAD).
Experience with pilot plant design, operation, and data analysis.
Excellent understanding of process safety principles and hazard analysis techniques.
Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional remote collaboration and communication abilities.
Proven ability to work independently and manage complex scale-up projects effectively.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute strategies for scaling up chemical processes from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial scales.
Design pilot plant operations, including equipment selection, process flow, and safety considerations.
Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for scale-up operations.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges encountered during scale-up and technology transfer.
Collaborate virtually with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful process implementation.
Develop mass and energy balances, equipment sizing, and process control strategies for scaled-up processes.
Prepare detailed technical documentation, including scale-up reports, operating procedures, and technology transfer packages.
Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the scale-up process.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in chemical process scale-up.
Mentor junior engineers and chemists involved in scale-up activities.
