Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Chemical Process Engineer to join a remote-first team in South Africa. Design, develop, and optimize specialty chemical processes from lab to production, leveraging simulation tools and P&IDs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in process design and development, preferably in the specialty chemicals sector.
• Proficiency in process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD, or similar.
• Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and separation processes.
• Experience with P&ID development and equipment specification.
• Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, essential for remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.

Responsabilités

• Design and develop new chemical processes for specialty chemical manufacturing, from lab scale to commercial production.
• Optimize existing processes to improve yield, reduce costs, enhance safety, and minimize environmental impact.
• Utilize process simulation software to model, analyze, and predict process performance.
• Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Specify process equipment, including reactors, separators, pumps, and control systems.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and implement appropriate safety measures.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless process transfer and scale-up.
• Troubleshoot process issues and implement effective solutions.
• Maintain accurate process documentation and records.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements and technologies in specialty chemical manufacturing.
