Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Design Engineer to lead major design initiatives for chemical operations in a fully remote setting. You will guide conceptual studies through to detailed engineering, leveraging advanced simulation tools and CAD to deliver state-of-the-art process solutions.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in process design engineering with a strong project portfolio.
• Expert proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools.
• In-depth knowledge of chemical unit operations, thermodynamics, and reaction engineering.
• Proven ability to lead design teams and manage complex projects remotely.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptual design and development of new chemical processes and modifications.
• Prepare detailed PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
• Conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and economic evaluations for proposed designs.
• Perform safety reviews including HAZOP and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers within the project team.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to meet objectives.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Design Engineer to lead critical design initiatives for their chemical operations. This role is fully remote, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere. You will be responsible for developing innovative and efficient process designs, from conceptual studies through to detailed engineering packages. This senior position requires a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, extensive design software proficiency, and the ability to guide project teams in delivering state-of-the-art solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptual design and development of new chemical processes and modifications.
• Prepare detailed Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications.
• Conduct feasibility studies, process simulations, and economic evaluations for proposed designs.
• Perform safety reviews, including HAZOP analysis, and ensure designs meet all safety and environmental standards.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers within the project team.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project objectives are met.
