Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Automotive Cybersecurity Analyst for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will identify, assess, and mitigate threats to connected vehicles, automotive networks, and cloud platforms, ensuring safety and data protection.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in cybersecurity with automotive security, strong knowledge of cryptography, network security, and penetration testing, plus remote collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a significant focus on automotive security.
• In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including cryptography, network security, and application security.
• Experience with penetration testing tools and methodologies.
• Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, UDS, Automotive Ethernet).
• Understanding of embedded systems security and RTOS security concepts.
• Knowledge of common automotive vulnerabilities and attack vectors.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills, especially for remote collaboration.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or automotive security certifications are a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on automotive ECUs, in-vehicle networks, and connected car platforms.
• Analyze cybersecurity threats and attack vectors relevant to the automotive industry.
• Develop and implement security controls and measures to protect against cyber threats.
• Monitor automotive networks and systems for suspicious activities and security breaches.
• Respond to security incidents, including investigation, containment, and remediation.
• Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures for automotive systems.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to embed security best practices throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Perform threat modeling and risk assessments for new automotive features and technologies.
• Stay updated on the latest automotive cybersecurity trends, regulations (e.g., UNECE WP.29), and emerging threats.
• Contribute to security awareness training for internal teams.
