Placements24 in South Africa is seeking an AI Ethics and Governance Specialist to join our AI & Emerging Technologies division. This fully remote role focuses on developing frameworks, governance policies, and impact analyses to ensure fair, accountable and beneficial AI.

You will shape ethical standards, train colleagues, and collaborate with legal, compliance and engineering teams while contributing to global discussions on responsible AI governance.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a relevant field is required.
• Experience in AI ethics and governance is essential.
• Ability to translate complex ethics concepts into guidance.
• Experience working in a remote or distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enforce policies for responsible AI development and deployment.
• Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for AI systems.
• Advise cross-functional teams on bias detection and fairness in AI.
• Stay current with global AI ethics regulations and best practices.
• Create training materials and conduct workshops on AI ethics and governance.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and engineering teams to meet requirements.
• Contribute to external publications and discussions on AI ethics.
• Monitor and report on the ethical performance of AI systems.
