About the Role

Our client, a national e-commerce and logistics powerhouse, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Regional Delivery Fleet Manager to oversee operations in the Benoni, Gauteng, ZA region. This leadership role involves managing a diverse fleet of delivery vehicles, optimizing routes, ensuring driver safety and performance, and driving operational efficiency across multiple depots. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, a deep understanding of fleet management best practices, and a proven ability to implement cost-effective strategies. This position offers a Hybrid work model, requiring regular engagement with operational sites while allowing for remote work flexibility. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the regional delivery fleet, including driver scheduling, route optimization, and vehicle maintenance oversight.
• Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Develop and implement strategies to reduce operational costs, including fuel efficiency, maintenance expenditure, and accident rates.
• Monitor fleet performance through key metrics and analytics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
• Lead, train, and motivate a team of fleet supervisors and drivers, fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
• Oversee vehicle procurement, leasing, and disposal processes to ensure optimal fleet composition.
• Manage relationships with external service providers, such as maintenance shops, tire suppliers, and insurance providers.
• Implement and refine safety programs to minimize accidents and ensure the well‑being of all personnel.
• Collaborate with other departments, including operations, customer service, and sales, to ensure seamless logistics integration.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and new technologies in fleet management to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management, logistics operations, or a related supervisory role.
• Demonstrated success in managing large fleets and achieving significant operational efficiencies.
• In-depth knowledge of transportation laws, safety regulations, and fleet maintenance best practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and data analysis tools.
• Experience managing a Hybrid work schedule and leading remote or distributed teams is a plus.
• Ability to develop and execute strategic plans for fleet operations.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with the Benoni, Gauteng, ZA area and its logistical landscape.
• Strong financial acumen for budget management and cost control.
