Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Telecoms Engineer specializing in Radio Access Networks (RAN) to join our Randburg team. You will design, optimize, and manage 4G/5G RAN deployments, ensuring strong coverage and performance within a cutting-edge mobile network.

You will drive drive tests, analysis of KPI data, and collaboration with core network teams, while mentoring junior engineers. A Bachelor's in EE/Telecom and 7+ years in RAN are required; Open RAN and Massive MIMO

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
7+ years of hands-on RAN engineering experience in 3G/4G-LTE/5G.
Knowledge of RAN architecture, protocols (BGP, OSPF), and KPIs.
Experience with RAN planning and optimization tools.
Familiarity with radio propagation and antenna theory.

Responsibilities

Design, plan, and implement RAN solutions including site acquisition and configuration.
Optimize RAN performance to enhance capacity, coverage, and user experience.
Troubleshoot RAN issues including interference, handover problems, and performance degradation.
Conduct drive tests and analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement.
Stay current with new RAN technologies (Open RAN, Massive MIMO) and vendor roadmaps.
Collaborate with other engineering teams (core network, transport) to ensure seamless integration.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior RAN engineers.
