About the Role

Our client is looking for a meticulous and proactive Quantity Surveyor to join their team managing major construction developments in Durban . This role is crucial for financial control and risk management throughout the project lifecycle. You will be responsible for cost estimation, contract administration, and ensuring value for money for our client's diverse portfolio of construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of construction economics and contract law, contributing to the successful financial outcomes of significant building ventures.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents for construction projects.
• Manage tender processes, evaluate bids, and negotiate contracts with contractors and suppliers.
• Administer construction contracts, including managing variations, claims, and payments.
• Monitor project costs, track expenses, and provide regular financial reports to project management .
• Conduct site visits to assess progress, verify work completed, and manage any cost-related issues.
• Advise on procurement strategies and cost-saving measures throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably on large-scale commercial construction projects.
• Proficiency in measurement software and standard forms of contract (e.g., FIDIC, JBCC).
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• Registered with the South African Council for the Property Valuers Profession (SACPVP) or similar is advantageous.
