Job summary

Danone in South Africa seeks a Lead Quality and Food Safety expert to oversee downstream supply chain QFS across exports, distributors, warehouses, DCs, logistics, cold chain and retail.

You will drive governance, risk management and continuous improvement to ensure product safety, legality and integrity from factory gate to point of sale, building capability and ensuring compliance across the network.

About The Job

Lead Quality and Food Safety across the downstream Supply Chain, including exports, distributors, warehouses, distribution centres, logistics, cold chain and retail. Ensure product safety, legality, compliance and integrity from factory gate to point of sale through effective governance, risk management, capability building and continuous improvement.

About You

KEY REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

• Strong business leadership, stakeholder influence and cross-functional collaboration.


• Sound knowledge of food science, processing, packaging, storage and distribution.


• Strong problem-solving, risk assessment and continuous-improvement capability.


• Good knowledge of QFS management systems, legislation and certification standards.


• Data-driven performance management and digital fluency, including Power BI, LIMS, SAP, Veeva or equivalent systems.

Qualification, Experience and skills

• MSc, BSc or BTech in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Quality or a related field.


• Minimum 5 years of QFS experience in FMCG, including at least 3 years of leadership or management experience.


• Experience in downstream Supply Chain Quality, including exports, distributors, warehouses, DCs, logistics, cold chain, in market / Store Checks audits and complaint management.


• Working knowledge of FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, ISO 17025 where applicable, HACCP, GMP and prerequisite programmes.


• Trained and experienced in auditing and project management, with strong communication, presentation and training skills.
