Job summary

JVR Software is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector with a focus on visual, dimensional, welding, and NDT inspection within a manufacturing environment in Gauteng, South Africa.

Responsibilities include conducting inspections per drawings and QA sheets, ensuring WPS and ISO compliance, coordinating NDT, logging non-conformances, maintaining records, and supporting safety and continuous improvement through close collaboration with production and engineering teams.

• Conduct first-off, in-process, and final visual inspections of components per drawings and QA sheets.
• Verify material identification, traceability, and certificates.
• Use measuring tools to validate fabrication accuracy.
• Detect and report non-conformances in real time.
• Ensure weld prep, processes, and final welds conform to WPS and ISO 3834-2.
• Monitor welding activities including preheat, interpass temperatures, consumables control.
• Cross-verify welder qualifications and WPS traceability on live jobs.
• Identify welding defects and initiate QA hold points.
• Prepare and tag components for MPI or UT testing.
• Liaise with NDT service providers and witness testing as required.
• Document results and escalate critical findings to QA Manager and Production Lead.
• Log NCs and ensure closure of root causes with Production, Engineering, and Planning.
• Support preventive measures to reduce repeated QA failures.
• Work with Production and Engineering to close corrective actions.
• Complete QA checklist and inspection report documentation for every stage of fabrication.
• Maintain accurate digital and physical records in alignment with IMS protocols.
• Support the compilation of MDRs by providing inspection documentation.
• Escalate recurring trends or deviations to QA Management.
• Work closely with Welders, Supervisors, Engineers, and Project Managers.
• Participate in daily QA meetings and support toolbox talks where required.
• Provide on-the-job guidance to production personnel on quality expectations and workmanship standards.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental requirements while performing inspections.
• Promote safe working practices and intervene when unsafe conditions are observed.

3. Key Responsibilities

3.1. Visual & Dimensional Inspection

• a. Conduct first-off, in-process, and final visual inspections of components in accordance with drawing tolerances and QA check sheets.
• b. Verify material identification, traceability, and compliance with approved material certificates.
• c. Use measuring instruments (tape, vernier, angle gauge, fillet weld gauge, etc.) to validate fabrication accuracy.
• d. Detect and report any non-conformances in real time.

3.2. Welding Inspection & WPS Conformance

• a. Ensure weld preparation, welding processes, and final welds conform to WPS and ISO 3834-2 requirements.
• b. Monitor welding activities, including preheat, interpass temperatures, consumable control, and compliance with approved WPSs.
• c. Cross-verify welder qualifications (WQ) and WPS traceability on live jobs.
• d. Identify welding defects and initiate relevant QA hold points.

3.3. NDT & Witness Coordination

• a. Prepare and tag components for MPI or UT testing.
• b. Liaise with NDT service providers and witness testing as required.
• c. Document results and elevate critical findings to QA Manager and Production Lead.

3.4. Non-Conformance Reporting & Corrective Actions

• a. Log NCs and ensure effective closure of root causes through collaboration with Production, Engineering, and Planning.
• b. Support implementation of preventive measures to reduce repeated QA failures.

3.5. Reporting & Documentation
