POSITION: QC Inspector
LOCATION: Modderfontein
REPORTING TO: QC Manager
Job Purpose / Description

Tasks
Quality Equipment Integrity
  • To identify tools/measuring equipment that are required to perform a certain task, and to request if not available
  • To stay abreast with latest measuring technologies and practices
  • To actively schedule and verify/calibrate measuring tools/equipment
  • To document inspections and calibration physically and electronically as per latest work instructions
  • Managing calibration schedules and registers
  • Note calibrated equipment included all items for the company that are registered and need to be inspected internally or externally
Quality Inspection of Procured and Manufactured Equipment
  • To sample inspect all products supplied by external suppliers
  • To sample inspect products from EB Germany on request only
  • To sample inspect all internally manufactured products
  • To inspect equipment during various stages of manufacture
  • Note samples are as per sample plan
  • Supervise the final pressure test of any pressure tested product and sign release of pressure test certificates
  • Verify material certification vs product/component heat numbers where required on purchase order
  • Verify other certifications as described on purchase orders and quality plans against received products
Administration
  • To load nonconformance (NCRs) for all non-conforming products / components.
  • Assist with material verification and transfer of heat numbers when required for internal transfer to maintain material traceability throughout the job
  • Adhere to Company’s ISO 9000 policy and procedures
  • To assist in customer/supplier quality inspections/audits on request
  • Update and maintain Welder X-ray register
  • Update and maintain PQR, WPS and Welders register
  • Generate inspections reports
  • Generate complete data dossiers for Categorized jobs and relevant projects
  • Assist with qualification of welders
  • Be able to read and interpret manufacture drawings and understand tolerances
People
  • Work as part of a team within the Operations Departments
  • Work together and support stores, production and assembly staff
  • Work together with drawing office where required
  • Work together with operational staff from various relevant teams
  • Join and contribute to daily, weekly and ad hoc meetings as required to perform, communicate with and support other departments
  • Liaise with and request Clients and third-party inspectors where applicable
Processes
  • Ensure the company and ISO standards are adhered to at all times
  • Follow QA/QC department procedures relating to function at given time
  • Advise, document and implement any improvements in processes that will aid in performing job functions more effectively
  • Ensure work is saved and archived for ease of reference and access by appropriate team members
Health and Safety and Environmental Aspects
  • Ensure that you are sufficiently trained to perform all functions safely within the company
  • Ensure you have done appropriate medical procedures and are physically able and fit to perform any duty and to notify your line manager and the HSE officer should you not be able to perform any function due to safety concerns
  • At all times adhere to the company’s rules, policies and procedures regarding Health, Safety and the Protection of the Environment
Other
  • Reasonable and lawful requests by your line manager are to be adhered to even if falling outside the scope of this job specification
  • Extra working hours will be required from time to time
  • Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of applicable local regulatory requirements and standards, including the Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER) and SANS 347
  • Demonstrate sound working knowledge in design/manufacturing standards such as ASME B31.3 and EN14917 among others
  • Demonstrate sound working knowledge in qualification standards such as ASME IX, and EN15614 among others
Applicable Qualifications
Minimum:
  • Technical matric N3 or Matric
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Inspection qualifications - SAIW Level 2 (Or Equivalent)
  • SAIW Level 1 will be considered based on experience
Advantageous:
  • PT (Dye Penetrant Testing) Level 2
Applicable Work Experience
Minimum:
  • 5 years QC experience
