Job summary

LexisNexis Legal & Professional seeks a hunter-focused Business Development Manager to identify, engage, and win new clients across South Africa’s public-sector legal community.

You’ll build demand for our legal and professional solutions, developing senior-level relationships and tailoring value-led proposals to customer needs. This is a new-business role with a strong focus on prospecting and revenue targets.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in business development, solution selling, or B2B sales with targets.
• Experience in software, insurance, telecoms, legal tech, or subscription-based services preferred.
• Ability to engage senior executives and decision-makers.
• Excellent English communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship skills.
• Self-directed with ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment.
• Law or Business degree is advantageous; understanding legal/technical solutions essential.
• Legal, governance, risk, or compliance experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Identify, target, and acquire new business opportunities within the legal sector and other sectors.
• Build relationships with senior decision-makers across public-sector legal functions and associations.
• Lead solution-based sales engagements, including client meetings and product demonstrations.
• Research prospective clients, market trends, and competitor activity to tailor proposals.
• Drive sector-focused campaigns, events, and marketing-led activities.
• Generate and follow up on leads, converting opportunities into new business.
• Maintain accurate forecasting and reporting on performance metrics.
• Balance prospecting, client engagement, and reporting with time management.
• Meet or exceed revenue and new-logo acquisition targets.
