Job summary

Rosebank International, part of the ADvTECH Group, seeks a senior academic leader to direct the delivery of our programmes and oversee the academic team under the Principal and Academic Manager. The role focuses on operational efficiency of staff and the student support function.

You will recruit, manage and develop Programme Coordinators, lecturers and tutors, while steering teaching and learning strategies, quality assurance, and programme improvements to ensure student success.

Qualifications

• Honours in Information and Communications Technology or equivalent.
• Master's in IT is an added advantage.
• Three years tertiary education experience and two years in management.
• Understanding of South African Higher Education regulatory framework.
• Experience in teaching and leadership within private colleges.

Responsibilities

• Direct management of academic delivery and oversee academic programmes under supervision.
• Oversee student support and operational efficiency of the academic team.
• Recruitment and management of Programme Coordinators, lecturers, and tutors.
• Lead teaching and learning strategies and programme improvements.
• Consult on admissions, student support integration, and academic culture.

Job Purpose:

Direct management of academic delivery and overseeing the management of academic programmes under the supervision of the Principal and Academic Manager. The mandate includes managing the operational efficiency of the academic team and overseeing the student support function.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Academic Support

• Responsible for Academic Development and Performance Monitoring
• Lecturer and Programme Co-ordinators peer evaluation and reviews
• Faculty performance
• Monitoring effective use of Learn activities
• Structured/scheduled class visits to assess and review the delivery of quality teaching and learning
• Student evaluation of teaching (SET)

Teaching & Learning

Accountable for the delivery of Teaching and Learning, which will include

• Direct academic student engagement
• Student success rate – at a modular level
• Student support and development
• Teaching and Learning; in and out of the classroom
• Programme Coordination Committee meetings
• Contributes to programme improvements, both content and assessments
• Module/subject consultations

Management of resources

Responsible for recruitment of department and/or faculty-assigned resources, which will include

• Programme Coordinators
• Full-Time Lecturers
• Independent Contractors
• Tutors

To be informed and knowledgeable regarding the staff management of supporting teams, which include

• Academic Operations team (AOO, AOC, AOA & VP)
• Career Centre staff
• Student Wellness
• ICT staff

Management and leadership

Responsible for the management and leadership of department/faculty in respect of

• On-boarding of staff
• Creation and management of campus timetables
• Creation and promotion of academic culture on campus
• Result analysis and student support interventions/activities
• Implementation and collaboration of teaching and learning strategies and activities

To consult on issues regarding:

• Academic and student support integration
• Coordination of student’s admission into programmes

Qualifications

Education:

• Honours in Information and Communications Technology; studying towards a Master's in IT added advantage
• Education Qualification

Work Experience:

• 3 years of tertiary education experience
• 2 years in Management
• An understanding of the current South African Higher Education regulatory framework and its impact on higher education and private colleges
