Overview
Department: Extrusion/Production
Supervision/Management: Technical Extrusion Specialist
Responsibilities
- Perform accurate and efficient production line set-ups and changeovers.
- Execute tool changes and machine configurations across all extrusion equipment.
- Set up auxiliary equipment (feeders, driller units and coilers).
- Optimize machine performance to meet OEE targets (Performance, Availability, Scrap).
- Ensure production lines run at optimal technical levels to meet output targets.
- Input order and parameter specifications into Management Execution System (MES).
- Assist with production planning and scheduling on SAP
- Perform fault finding and root cause analysis.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and assist with repairs to minimize downtime
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001) and Heath, Safety and Environmental protocols
- Support Lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
- Manage wear parts replacement and stock control (rollers, rings, tools, etc.).
- Participate in equipment installations and technical upgrades.
- Provide after-hours support and standby coverage for production needs.
- Provide training to Production Supervisors on technical aspects.
Additional requirements
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Practical, hands-on approach with a proactive mindset.
- Logical problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Computer literacy and numeracy skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
- Willingness to work shifts when required.
Education – minimum required skills/qualification
- Electrical / Electronic artisan / Millwright
- Red Seal Certificate
Experience/fields of knowledge/preferred skills
- Experience: ±5 years in manufacturing or continuous production.
- Strong understanding of production processes and mechanical systems.
- ERP system experience (MES, SAP, Oracle, EFI).
- Logical problem-solving skills, good communication, and computer literacy.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
Employment conditions
- Working hours: Monday to Thursday 08h00 -17h00, and Friday 08h00-16h00
- To work flexible hours as required
- Perform standby duties for breakdowns and production line support
- Permanent employment, subject to probation period of three (3) months
