Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Production Manager to lead its Mossel Bay manufacturing facility in the Western Cape. You will oversee all production processes, drive lean initiatives, and ensure safety and quality targets are met.

The role requires 6+ years in production management, a mechanical/industrial engineering background, and strong leadership. This hybrid position offers growth opportunities in a reputable consumer goods environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in production management within a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• Strong Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement knowledge.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Experience with production planning software and budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct all production activities to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
• Develop and implement production schedules to optimize workflow and resource allocation.
• Supervise and lead a team of production staff, operators, and supervisors, providing guidance and performance feedback.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on the production floor.
• Implement and maintain quality control standards and processes throughout production.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction, implementing lean manufacturing principles where applicable.
• Monitor production equipment and ensure proper maintenance and functionality.
• Manage production budgets and control operational expenses effectively.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and quality assurance to ensure seamless operations.
• Maintain accurate production records and reports, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement among the production workforce.
