About the Role

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Procurement Specialist to manage the acquisition of raw materials for its operations in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. This role is critical in ensuring a consistent and cost-effective supply of high-quality raw materials essential for production. The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, a solid understanding of supply chain dynamics, and experience in sourcing within the FMCG industry. You will be responsible for identifying suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities

• Source, negotiate, and procure high-quality raw materials and ingredients required for FMCG production.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring reliability, quality, and competitive pricing.
• Conduct market research to identify potential new suppliers and stay informed about market trends and pricing fluctuations.
• Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and contract conditions with suppliers.
• Manage inventory levels of raw materials in collaboration with the production and warehousing teams to ensure optimal stock availability.
• Ensure all procured materials meet the required quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Process purchase orders and manage the procurement cycle from requisition to delivery.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including R&D, production, and quality assurance, to understand material requirements and specifications.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement or sourcing, with a significant focus on raw materials within the FMCG industry.
• Proven experience in negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
• Strong understanding of supply chain principles and inventory management.
• Familiarity with quality assurance and regulatory requirements relevant to food or consumer product ingredients.
• Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience sourcing within the Nelspruit or surrounding regions is a plus.
