Placements24 is seeking a Procurement Specialist for its George, Western Cape operations. The role focuses on cost-effective acquisition of raw materials, packaging and essential supplies for FMCG production, ensuring timely availability and quality to support profitability.

The candidate will manage sourcing, negotiations and supplier relationships in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, contributing to procurement policy development and overall supply chain efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or related field in SCM/Business Admin.
• 3–5 years procurement experience, preferably FMCG.
• Experience in sourcing, negotiation and supplier relationship management.
• Solid procurement practices and market dynamics knowledge in FMCG.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and procurement software.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end procurement for assigned categories including sourcing, negotiation and orders.
• Onboard and evaluate new suppliers for quality, reliability, and ethics.
• Monitor pricing trends, market developments and potential disruptions.
• Negotiate favorable terms to cut costs while ensuring quality and on-time delivery.
• Maintain procurement records and supplier performance data.
• Collaborate with logistics/production to ensure timely material delivery and avoid stockouts.
• Track supplier performance and address issues promptly.
• Prepare regular procurement reports and insights for management.
• Assist in developing procurement policies and procedures and ensure compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular market analysis to stay informed about pricing trends, new product developments, and potential supply chain disruptions.
• Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining product quality and delivery schedules.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier performance data.
• Collaborate closely with the logistics and production teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and minimize stockouts or overstock situations.
• Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or service promptly.
• Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, savings achieved, and market insights for management review.
• Assist in the development and implementation of procurement policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and ethical sourcing guidelines.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement or a similar role, preferably within the FMCG industry.
• Proven experience in sourcing, negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
• Solid understanding of procurement best practices and market dynamics in the FMCG sector.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with procurement software.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
