Placements24 is seeking a diligent Procurement Officer for a prominent FMCG manufacturer in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will source, negotiate with suppliers, manage contracts and ensure timely delivery of materials, while maintaining optimal inventory levels for cost efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2–4 years’ procurement experience within FMCG or manufacturing, with strong negotiation and Excel skills.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent manufacturer in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to join their supply chain team in Kimberley, Northern Cape . This role is integral to ensuring the consistent and cost-effective supply of high-quality raw materials essential for our production processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, a solid understanding of procurement best practices, and experience within the FMCG industry. You will be responsible for identifying, sourcing, and managing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of materials, all while maintaining optimal inventory levels and cost efficiencies. This is an on-site position, requiring active engagement with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure raw materials and packaging supplies required for production, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
• Identify and evaluate potential new suppliers, building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favourable contracts.
• Manage the procurement process from requisition to order placement and delivery confirmation.
• Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, ensuring adequate stock to meet production demands while minimizing holding costs.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures, as well as relevant industry standards.
• Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for improvement and risk mitigation.
• Prepare and maintain accurate procurement records and reports.
• Collaborate with the production and quality assurance teams to ensure materials meet specifications.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
• A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably within the FMCG or manufacturing industry.
• Proven experience in sourcing raw materials and negotiating with suppliers.
• Strong understanding of procurement processes, inventory management, and supply chain principles.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Experience with procurement software is an advantage.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of quality standards and compliance requirements.
