Icebolethu Group is seeking experienced, detail-oriented Procurement Officers to oversee end-to-end purchasing activities across assigned business units. The successful candidate will source high-quality goods and services, negotiate competitive pricing, manage vendor relationships, and ensure full compliance with internal policies and financial controls. This position is based in Durban.
Sourcing & Quotation Management: Receive purchase requisitions, agree on specifications with user departments, and source competitive quotations from accredited service providers.
Negotiation & Cost Control: Negotiate optimal pricing, commercial terms, and settlement discounts with suppliers to drive cost efficiencies while maintaining quality standards.
Order Processing & Audit Compliance: Issue purchase orders to selected providers in alignment with company governance; file and archive all orders, quotes, and approvals for audit purposes.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, evaluate vendor performance, and engage professionally with internal and external stakeholders across all organizational levels.
Budget & Order Administration: Assist in establishing purchase budget estimates, maintain accurate purchasing databases, and follow up on long-outstanding orders to ensure committed funds are released timeously.
Quality Assurance & Query Resolution: Verify that delivered products and materials meet agreed specifications, and resolve procurement or invoicing queries promptly.
Policy Guidance: Communicate purchasing procedures and governance guidelines to internal departments and external service providers to ensure seamless compliance.
Education: National Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: 2–3 years of proven experience in a dedicated procurement or purchasing role.
Technical Skills: MS Office literacy with solid intermediate-to-advanced MS Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
Analytical & Negotiating Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, sound judgment, and proven price negotiation skills.
Interpersonal & Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to manage queries and interact comfortably with staff and management at all levels.
Personal Attributes: High level of attention to detail, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and strong adaptability to manage shifting priorities and competing demands.
