Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Process Safety Engineer for our client in Klerksdorp, North West, South Africa. The role focuses on developing and managing robust process safety management systems to protect people, environment and assets, with a hybrid on-site and remote work arrangement.

The successful candidate will lead PHAs, risk assessments, MOC processes, and safety training, collaborating across engineering, operations and maintenance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of process safety engineering experience in chemical or manufacturing industries.
• Strong knowledge of PSM principles, HAZOP/LOPA, and risk management.
• Experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Familiarity with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP regulations.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain PSM programs.
• Conduct PHAs including HAZOP/LOPA/FMEA.
• Investigate incidents and near misses to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Deliver process safety training to engineers and operators.
• Ensure compliance with national and international safety standards.
• MOC management and safety integration in design changes.
• Oversee mechanical integrity programs for critical equipment.
• Audit safety procedures and performance; drive improvements.
