Job summary

Placements24 in East London, SA, seeks a Process Safety Engineer to strengthen safety design, operation and maintenance of process facilities, and to promote a strong safety culture across the site. You will lead PSM programs, hazard studies (HAZOP/LOPA/PHA), incident investigations, and training for personnel, with hybrid work options in the East London area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in process safety engineering, preferably Oil & Gas or chemical processing.
• Strong knowledge of HAZOP, LOPA, SIL assessments.
• Familiarity with PSM elements and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct hazard identification and risk assessment studies, including HAZOP, LOPA, and PHA.
• Develop and maintain safety critical procedures and safety device requirements.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international process safety regulations.
• Provide training and guidance on process safety principles to operational personnel.
