Placements24 is seeking a diligent Mechanical Engineer to join its Pietermaritzburg team. You will design, test, and implement mechanical systems throughout the product lifecycle, collaborating with manufacturing and R&D to ensure robust, safe solutions.

The ideal candidate has a BEng in Mechanical Engineering, proven CAD/analysis experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD), strong materials and thermodynamics knowledge, and excellent problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in mechanical design, analysis and testing.
• Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of materials science, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test mechanical components and systems using CAD software.
• Conduct feasibility studies and prepare technical specifications for new projects.
• Analyze test data and product performance to identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and R&D, to ensure design integrity.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and propose effective solutions during production and operation.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and engineering records.
