Placements24 is seeking a Process Development Engineer for its Benoni, Gauteng team. The role focuses on translating lab-scale synthesis into scalable, safe, and cost-effective manufacturing processes for fine and specialty chemicals.

You will lead the design, optimization, and validation of processes, collaborating with R&D, engineering, and production to ensure smooth tech transfer and robust scale-up.

Competenze

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development and scale-up.
• Expertise in reaction engineering, separation techniques, and process control.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory and pilot plant equipment.
• Strong understanding of process safety principles and risk assessment.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, ChemCAD) is desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Mansioni

• Develop and optimize chemical synthesis routes and manufacturing processes for fine and specialty chemicals.
• Conduct laboratory experiments, pilot plant trials, and validation studies to assess process viability and identify scale-up parameters.
• Perform process simulations and modeling to predict performance and optimize conditions.
• Troubleshoot process issues during development, scale-up, and manufacturing.
• Ensure all developed processes meet safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with R&D chemists, engineers, and production teams throughout the development lifecycle.

• Assist in specification and selection of new processing equipment.
• Stay abreast of new synthesis techniques and process intensification technologies.
